What a great gig! Chris did a fantastic job keeping his audience engaged, singlehandedly for an impressive two and a half hours, at Oscars - a lovely small intimate venue on St Leonards seafront. He had a seemingly endless list of material to draw from, and he reads his audience extremely well. Not least because he's a local comedian who was performing largely to his homebase which can be pretty intimidating for fledgling artists of all genres. But I was also impressed by his use of whatever information the audience members he engaged with provided him, by way of extra material to play with. Eg. The GP, the paramedic, and his mate who bought some art during the show! He did some great loops in his storytelling too, such as the Dalmation dog story, marrows, and allotment story. That was very funny! The crimewatch photofit/ID tale was absolutely hilarious - one to save and re-use. Everyone got it! He uses the power of the pause brilliantly, when deciding whether to move on and change direction or to go with the flow. He shows skill at different accents too, which is well worth developing, as are his impressive vocal gymnastics such as the overflying helicopter rumble, which I suspected was a cool diversion for the audience to notice while he moved on to the next topic. Having never heard of Chris before, and being a fussy 'hard act to please' fan of comedy, I firmly believe Chris has longhaul legs for this.. I sincerely hope he keeps running with what he's got , and builds on what will potentially be a hugely successful career worth giving up his (noble) day job for. A great night. Well done!

What a great night we had! A full house too! They even brought in a few extra seats.. We didn't know any of the acts, so we checked them out online beforehand, and all three of them (including our host) did not fail to deliver! They were great and between them got a lot of belly laughs from pretty much everyone who attended. We love the studio, probably more than the theatre upstairs, because it's size is just right to get a view even if seated, and the vibe is much more intimate. The ticket prices were very reasonable, as are the drinks. The bar staff are always lovely, and the team working around the venue are friendly, welcoming and very helpful. This year has been such a great year for Hastings comedy and JokePit, we've never been to so many gigs! Credit to the White Rock too, who have really upped their ante.. the programming for this year has been more impressive than I've seen for a long time. We'll be back! Thank you for a top night!
