PHIL ELLIS
★★★★★ - One4Review | ★★★★1/2 - Comic’s Comic | ★★★★ - Entertainment Now | ★★★★ - Beyond the Joke | ★★★★ - The List
Phil Ellis is an award-winning comedian who has entertained audiences of all ages with his amalgamation of off-beat observational material and physical comedy. Most recently, he was nominated for the prestigious Sky Best Comedy Show at the 2023 Edinburgh Comedy Awards and won The Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality for Phil Ellis’s Excellent Comedy Show. The show was ranked in the top 20 best-reviewed shows of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2023.
He starred and co-wrote three series of his own BBC Radio 4 sitcom Phil Ellis is Trying, co-starring Johnny Vegas, Lolly Adefope, Amy Gledhill, Alexei Sayle, Sindhu Vee, Jack Dee, Lee Mack, Mark Lamarr and Sean Lock. The series was nominated for a BBC Audio Award in 2019.
In 2014, Phil won the Edinburgh Comedy Award’s panel prize with his anarchic, sleeper hit show Funz and Gamez. After meeting incredible critical acclaim, Funz and Gamez was broadcast as part of BBC Radio 4’s Fresh from the Fest and BBC Comedy Feeds (BBC Three). The show went on to have an 18-show run at the Soho Theatre and all major UK comedy festivals. Phil’s recent Edinburgh shows, Au Revoir (2019) played at the Soho Theatre and Hedgehog (2023) led Phil to embark on a successful first ever UK tour.
‘The density of gags is impressive… There’s not many better exponents of this message-free, ego-free, knockabout comedy than Ellis in his prime. And this is that show.’ ★★★★1/2 Chortle
‘Ellis’s performance is touched by comic genius. Every moment he is on stage something funny, and then funnier, is happening.’ ★★★★★ Scotsman
‘It’s a surreal and unforgettable hour which firmly cements Phil Ellis as one of the funniest and finest comedians in the UK today.’ ★★★★★ Broadway Baby

Beat the Frog World Series Runner Up 2021
King Gong London 2019 - Winner
"She’s a bold, brash, shameless presence full of gloriously inappropriate jokes and twisted, dark songs gleefully mocking some awful things. It’s a ribald, vulgar set, full of crude knockabout humour delivered with blunt vitality. And an absolute crowd-pleaser. She came second, and I suspect it was a close poll, for she’s a powerhouse surely poised to storm the circuit." - CHORTLE
"Jenny absolutely raised the roof last night at AComedy Club with a superbly raucous set, leaving some audience members in tears of laughter. A brilliant act!" - ACOMEDY CLUB
