If you want a great night out seeing the best alternative comedy in an intimate venue then Big Comedy Hammersmith at The Distillers is the place for you!

A new and exciting monthly night of stand-up brought to you by lovers of great comedy and featuring some of the funniest comedians around. Hosted by our resident MC Julius Howe "A true hit. Julius embodies the generational voice of so many" - North West End.

SPECIAL COMEDY DISCOUNT 10% OFF DRINKS!

Doors open at 6.55 and the show starts at 7.30.

Before the show starts have a drink and listen to the fantastic band Rubik and the Cuboids. If Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet and Frankie Goes to Hollywood had a lovechild, it might sound a bit like Rubik and the Cuboids. 1980s pop played on delightfully groggy guitars, smouldering bass, thick, heavy drums and vocals like molten lava.

Comedy is at 7.30 and this month we have a stellar lineup of comics including our headliner – not for the easily offended US sensation Yoshi Obayashi

Yoshi is a world famous American stand-up comedian who has opened for legends such as Dave Attell, Russell Peters, Jim Norton, Pablo Francisco and Patrice O’Neal. Yoshi Obayashi was also a DVD producer for famed adult directors so expect many spicy stories. You may have seen Yoshi in NBC’s Last Comic Standing and Showtime’s Comics Without Borders. He is also a regular podcast guest appearing on such classic shows as Opie and Anthony, Your Mom's House with Christina P. and Tom Segura, The Joe Rogan Experience and his own acclaimed podcast Yoshi Didn't.

Supporting Yoshi are 4 fantastic comics:

Gary Sansome
A tough speaking off-the-wall Scotsman. Gary is a fantastic comedian who has performed across the globe at some of the biggest Comedy Clubs in the world.

Qasim Akhtar
A comic originally hailing from Manchester. He was Hot Water New Comedian of the Year 2025, as well as a So You Think You’re Funny finalist in 2025. He performs across the UK with material that blends personal stories, identity, and sharp observations on everyday life. Calm, dry, and slightly off-centre.

Nicky G
Winner of many comedy gong shows and a semi-finalist in the prestigious SYTYF competition.

Madeleine Brettingham
A fantastic standup and distinguished comedy writer with a rich portfolio spanning television, radio, and print. Her notable contributions include writing for acclaimed shows such as "That Mitchell and Webb Look". Beyond scriptwriting and standup, She was a finalist in the Funny Women Awards and recently won the 2025 So You Think You’re Funny.

And for all you budding popstars - after the comedy finishes The Distillers has a karaoke night downstairs!

Please note: Although not common, lineups can be subject to change at short notice.

Arrived very optimistic and looking forward to the evening. Left after the first half. The venue was fine - the comedy appalling.
