Our Headline Act is the BRILLIANT ...
ROGER MONKOUSE
Roger Monkhouse is one of the most original and distinctive acts on the comedy scene. A consummate stand-up who employs a deadly combination of charm and menace to exert a masterful control over any audience.
A highly original and quirky performer, Roger’s trademark stage-prowling style and curious, inimitable manner have established him as one of the hottest names on the comedy circuit.
As a seasoned corporate host he improvises freely with the crowd but is nonetheless distinguished as a comic by the intelligence of his material and his keen eye for a fine phrase, his easy observational style spiked by the signal flares of an accomplished gag writer.
Since his debut in 1990 Roger Monkhouse has been a regular performer at The Comedy Store, The Glee Clubs and all major comedy clubs around the UK and internationally.
In 2016 he was voted Best Compere by fellow comics and was recently featured on Unsafe Spaces (Radio 4).
Roger is widely regarded as a master of observational comedy with routines that are unfailingly hysterical and his forte is delivering intelligent, thought-provoking material that pulls no punches and is always relevant and up-to-date.
Articulate, quick-witted and spontaneous, if something is in the news, Roger has a routine about it
"He is a gifted natural, with the years of experience to know how to handle a crowd, which goes to make him one of the consummate professionals of the stand-up circuit". - Chortle
"Highly regarded by his peers on the circuit - he's shaven-headed, topical, good, and nothing to do with Bob!" - Evening Standard
"His laconic delivery shields an engaging persona and an enquiring mind." - The Guardian
Opening Act is another regular headline level comedian DAVID EAGLE
Comedian and Folk Singer. As heard on BBC Radio 4’s “The Now Show” and seen on “Rosie Jones’s Disability Comedy Extravaganza”. David is also a member of three-time BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winning band 'The Young'uns'.
Winner Edinburgh’s Spirit of the Fringe 2024
Winner Best Variety Show Leicester Comedy Festival 2024
Nominee Best Show Edinburgh Fringe 2024.
Middle Act is STEPHANIE LAING
Stephanie is best described as goofy and peculiar, and her comedy is partway between the needy oddness of Maria Bamford and the upbeat affability of Josie Long. Her material is a mix of silliness, filth and unusual observations, underpinned by a disarming honesty which makes her seem charmingly vulnerable.
Host for the night is AL STEVENSON
Al Stevenson is the sharp-witted lad from Newcastle, with “bulletproof confidence” (Stand Newcastle), his charm allows him to tear through an audience with a cheeky grin. His “relentlessly hilarious” (Carl Hutchinson) performances of his “brilliant jokes” (Jack Whitehall) have seen him go all the way to the Beat The Frog World Series Finals, be tour support for Mark Nelson, USA Kevin James Thornton and many more, and sellout the prestigious Stand Comedy Club with his debut solo show!
“Al Stevenson combines the blunt double-entendres of Julian Clary with the bored, world-weariness of Jo Brand.” – Chortle

Went specifically for the headliner but I was also impressed by the "middle" act. The venue is a bit of a barn, with no intimacy. No draught drinks. £5 for a 330ml bottle of beer. 5* for price refers to the gig ticket, not the bar.

R he set up change to stage was much better. James Kilvington worked the audience really well and was better than the 3 acts. Tom Taylor was the better of the 3 acts. Price was good value for money but felt that the bar service could have been improved by having staff behind the upstairs bar before the comedy gig started.

Excellent night

Great night out, a variety of comedy acts to enjoy, a tasty curry and rice in with the price, and a good selection of drinks at the bar. Seats are pews so something to consider when thinking about what clothes to wear - you might want to take a jumper, if only to sit on!

It was dead good! We really enjoyed the night from start to finish. The acts were brilliant, the stand up and imrov comedians alike. Of course the curry was amazing too! Will definitely be back again. Sorry for late review!
