Buckle Up: Amber Ruffin to Star in Road Comedy Mother Trucker

Amber Ruffin is taking her comedic talents to the road in a new film titled Mother Trucker. The beloved writer and performer from Late Night with Seth Meyers will produce and star in this indie film, which promises a journey of laughter and misadventure.

The film's storyline revolves around Christie, a timid woman in her 30s, who, alongside her free-spirited best friend Ally, played by Ruffin, sets out on a quest to find her birth mother. The twist? Her mom is a trucker, leading to a road trip filled with unexpected twists and comic situations.

Written by Sarah Ann Masse, who also co-stars, the film is based on an idea by Christina Carano. It is being produced by Night Fox Entertainment and Zonino Productions, with Ruffin's own production banner, Straight To Cards, also on board.

Ruffin has expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, "This story made me laugh my butt off and then cry it back on." She is thrilled to work with Night Fox Entertainment, who share her vision for the film.

In addition to her role on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Ruffin has made a significant impact with her own series, The Amber Ruffin Show, and as a panelist on CNN's Have I Got News For You. Her behind-the-scenes contributions include co-writing Broadway's Some Like It Hot and The Wiz, as well as developing Bigfoot! The Musical.

Ruffin continues to blaze her own trail in the entertainment industry, maintaining her philosophy of doing what she loves. As she puts it, "As long as I can do exactly what I feel like doing—and that’s kind of where I am now—then I’m just gonna do that."
