Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is feeling a bit neglected after his personal phone number was leaked online, and not a single call or message has come through. Not even a scam text pretending to be from Australia Post has graced his notifications screen.
At a recent press conference, Albanese humorously expressed his disappointment, saying he expected to be overwhelmed with calls. Instead, his phone has been as silent as a mime in a library. "I honestly thought I’d be inundated," he remarked, staring hopefully at his empty notifications.
In a desperate attempt for some phone action, Albanese even tried logging into a website requiring two-factor authentication, hoping to receive at least a text message. Alas, the verification code was sent to his email instead, leaving his phone just as lonely.
A government spokesperson confirmed the number was indeed real and still active, adding that the PM has resorted to turning his phone off and on again in hopes of breaking the silence. The spokesperson urged the public to send Anthony a message, anything to cheer him up a bit.
In a light-hearted moment, Albanese mentioned he thought he had finally received a message, only to find it was a drunken photo from Barnaby Joyce—nothing too unusual there.
