That Explains It: George R.R. Martin Has Been Trying To Submit The Manuscript For ‘The Winds Of Winter’ For The Past Six Years But Can’t Get The PDF Attached To The Email To His Publisher

Ever since George R.R. Martin published A Dance With Dragons in 2011, Game Of Thrones fans have been eagerly awaiting his next book, The Winds Of Winter. After 14 years of anticipation and speculation, Martin has finally revealed the reason for the delay: he has been trying to email the manuscript to his publisher for six years but can't get the PDF to attach.

In a recent fan convention in Glasgow, Scotland, Martin explained, "In 2019, I completed the final draft of The Winds Of Winter, the greatest book I’ve ever written, but every time I try to attach the PDF, my email gets glitchy." His publisher, Bantam Books, only accepts submissions in PDF format, and despite Martin's pleas to send a Word document instead, they remain firm on their policy.

Martin's attempts to resolve the issue include switching browsers, opening new email accounts, and even deleting Tyrian Lannister from the draft, but nothing has worked. He also tried to print the manuscript to deliver it in person, but his printer has been out of ink for 12 years.

Despite these obstacles, Martin remains dedicated to getting the book into fans' hands, spending two hours each morning trying to attach the PDF. While fans are disappointed, this humorous explanation provides some comfort that Martin is not giving up.
