The NSW Government's decision to ban and clear protests in central Sydney was intended to create an atmosphere of mass displacement and enforced movement, reminiscent of the experiences of visiting Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
A spokesperson humorously noted, "It’s not every day that you have a visiting dignitary accused by the United Nations of inciting genocide, so we wanted to do something special. I think giving up our civil liberties is the least we could do."
The gesture was described as a form of respect, aiming to welcome the guest by aligning with his background, which, in this case, meant moving people out of areas they were previously allowed to exist in.
