Nick Mohammed, famed for his comedic chops in Ted Lasso, is switching gears as he joins the cast of the acclaimed Apple TV+ drama Slow Horses. Mohammed will portray Zafar Jaffrey, a character with big dreams of becoming London’s mayor. How’s that for ambition?
Jaffrey, described as a moderate Muslim and a buddy of the Prime Minister, first appeared in Mick Herron’s Slough House novels, which inspired the series. Londoners may have spotted Mohammed’s face on buses, paired with the campaign slogan ‘moving London forward’ – a sighting that the Camden New Journal reported during filming in February.
The fifth season of Slow Horses kicks off with two episodes on September 24, followed by a weekly rollout until October 22. The series stars Gary Oldman as the grumpy yet brilliant Jackson Lamb, leading a ragtag group of sidelined spies at Slough House. Expect appearances from Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, and Saskia Reeves.
Mohammed, who previously tickled funny bones on stage, is also gearing up for Celebrity Traitors and is touring with Show Pony, proving he’s no one-trick pony!
