It's the end of term for Boarders

Public school comedy Boarders is making a comeback for its third and final series, as the BBC announced with much fanfare. The show, which has charmed audiences with its humorous take on the lives of five black South London teens attending the elite St. Gilbert’s, is the brainchild of Daniel Lawrence Taylor.

Daniel, who plays the mentor Gus, is set to make his directorial debut with the series finale. He expressed his gratitude, saying, 'Boarders has been a deeply personal project for me, and it’s been incredible to see how audiences have connected with the characters. From day one, I wanted to create something funny, honest, and proudly black.' He hopes to wrap up the series with a bang, offering greater challenges, deeper friendships, and the ever-looming question of life beyond school.

The beloved cast, including Jodie Campbell, Sekou Diaby, Aruna Jalloh, Myles Kamwendo, and Josh Tedeku, will reprise their roles as the students in their final term, facing the future and a fierce rivalry with a neighboring school. The season's announcement came with a video message from the cast, adding to the excitement.

Madeleine Sinclair of Studio Lambert, the production company, praised the show's fearless writing and standout performances, promising audiences a conclusion filled with humor, honesty, and a lot of heart. Lindsay Salt, BBC's drama director, also chimed in, expressing enthusiasm for the final season and the exceptional young cast.

Filming for the final six 45-minute episodes will take place in Bristol later this year, with an expected air date in 2026. Meanwhile, fans can catch up with the first and second series now available on BBC iPlayer.
