Buckle up, comedy fans! A new live version of 'The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy' is set to open in London later this year, bringing intergalactic hilarity to the stage. The show is the brainchild of Arvind Ethan David, a former mentee of the legendary author Douglas Adams, who once predicted our current world of social media chaos and extinction-level threats.
According to David, 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' isn't just a tale of cosmic proportions; it's a satire, a comedy, a philosophical text, and much more. Now, with a team of world-class storytellers from Broadway, the West End, and television, this classic will be introduced to a new generation of hitchhikers.
The production will take over two studios at Riverside Studios starting November 15, with bookings opening on June 25 for anyone registering at hitchhikerslive.com. The show is directed by Simon Evans — known for his work on Inside No 9: Stage/Fright — along with live experience experts Georgia Clarke-Day and David Frias-Robles.
As for the details and cast, those remain as elusive as the meaning of life, and the universe, and everything. However, the producers hint at an experience that re-immerses audiences in the brilliantly absurdist adventure with characters like Arthur Dent, Trillian, and Marvin the Paranoid Android.
Drawing inspiration not only from Adams’ novels but also the 2005 film starring Martin Freeman as Arthur Dent, the show is presented in special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatricals. So, grab your towel and prepare for an infinitely improbable journey through the galaxy!
The production is helmed by West End producer Tamar Climan and David’s company, Prodigal Entertainment. Douglas Adams, the original mastermind behind 'The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy', passed away in 2001, but his legacy continues to inspire new cosmic journeys.
