Scottish comedians Marc Jennings, Christopher MacArthur-Boyd, Rosco McClelland, Liam Withnail, and Stuart McPherson are set to release free stand-up specials this summer. The series, aptly named 'Summer Laughs', will be available online from June through July, offering a weekly dose of hilarity.
These shows were recorded at iconic venues like The Pavilion Theatre, The Stand Comedy Club, and Blackfriars of Bell Street in Glasgow, as well as Monkey Barrel Comedy in Edinburgh. The initiative is spearheaded by the team behind the Some Laugh podcast, aiming to create a 'water-cooler buzz' akin to TV comedy seasons.
Marc Jennings expressed excitement about showcasing Scottish talent through the platform they've built. Christopher MacArthur-Boyd, whose special 'Scary Times' kicks off the series, highlighted the effort and personal investment involved, noting the specials' affordability during a cost of living crisis.
The specials will be available for streaming on the Some Laugh YouTube channel every Sunday at 8pm, starting June 22. Here's a peek at the lineup:
All five comedians will also perform at the Monkey Barrel during the Edinburgh Fringe in August.
