BriTANicK get to make a movie... thanks to the Edinburgh Fringe

American comedy duo BriTANicK, composed of Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher, are making their directorial debut with a new film, all thanks to their performance at the Edinburgh Fringe. The duo, known for their comedic brilliance, have taken an idea that first sparked during their student days in New York and are now bringing it to life.

The film’s plot revolves around two college students, Jack and Montgomery, who embark on a seemingly simple mission to retrieve a pizza from their dorm’s lobby. However, after accidentally consuming a homemade drug, their journey turns into a 'mind-bendingly transformative quest.'

The project got its green light when Hulu’s former head of comedy, turned producer, Billy Rosenberg, attended BriTANicK’s show at Edinburgh and decided to help shepherd the idea to fruition. Now, the film is in production in Syracuse, NY, featuring a cast that includes Gaten Matarazzo from Stranger Things and Sean Giambrone from The Goldbergs.

Brian McElhaney expressed his excitement on Instagram, sharing how directing a feature film has always been his dream, and after years of doubt, it’s finally happening. Nick Kocher, who is married to Scottish actor Karen Gillan, also shared his enthusiasm and humorously asked for title suggestions from fans.

In addition to Matarazzo and Giambrone, the film stars Jack Martin and Lulu Wilson. McElhaney and Kocher, who have previously written for Saturday Night Live and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, are thrilled to see their passion project come to life. They are also working on an English-language remake of the Swedish film The Trip, starring Jason Segel.
