Blue Jays announce giveaway where first 15,000 fans get a family doctor

In a bid to boost ticket sales and address the healthcare shortage in Ontario, the Toronto Blue Jays have come up with a novel idea: the first 15,000 fans entering the Rogers Centre for an upcoming game will be rewarded with a family doctor. Blue Jays President Mark Shapiro expressed his excitement, noting that this giveaway is a win-win for both the team and its fans, particularly those struggling to find a doctor.

Shapiro emphasized that this is not just another gimmick like previous promotions that went awry, such as when fans were given live parrots or food-poisoning-inducing sandwiches. He reassured fans that this giveaway is about giving them something truly valuable.

Tickets for the game sold out swiftly, with some fans setting up camp outside the stadium in anticipation. While many are eager to gain access to a doctor, others, like Mike Klein, plan to sell their doctor 'gift' on the secondary market, despite facing criticism for doing so.

In addition to the doctor giveaway, the game day will feature health-related activities such as a pop-up clinic offering tetanus shots and other health services. The Blue Jays have even coordinated with Fire Services to increase stadium capacity temporarily, ensuring that the influx of fans—and doctors—doesn't overwhelm the venue.
