ABC Pulls Jimmy Kimmel Live! Over Kirk Killer Remarks

ABC announced on Wednesday that it is indefinitely pulling 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' from its schedule. This decision follows Nexstar Media Group's announcement that it will no longer air the show in its ABC-affiliated markets due to comments made by Kimmel about the alleged killer of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Just an hour before ABC's decision, Nexstar stated that its ABC-affiliated stations would preempt the show, objecting to Kimmel's recent comments about Charlie Kirk's death. Kirk was shot during a debate at Utah Valley University, and a suspect was arrested three days later.

In his monologue, Kimmel criticized conservatives for allegedly trying to politicize Kirk's death. The remarks have drawn significant criticism from right-wing media, and FCC Chair Brendan Carr has suggested potential FCC sanctions against Kimmel.

Carr, an ally of President Trump, hinted that Disney, ABC's parent company, should take action against Kimmel, even suggesting a suspension. He also urged local affiliates to push back against ABC and NBC until the issue is resolved.

Meanwhile, Anna Gomez, the FCC's sole Democratic member, condemned Carr's remarks, accusing him of using Kirk's death to justify censorship. Kimmel's future at ABC remains uncertain, with his contract set to expire in May 2026.
