Comedian and actor Toby Williams has released his debut children's picture book titled, 'Fart, Fart, Fart, Fart, FART'. Known for his performances as himself and as Dr. George Ryegold, Williams both wrote and illustrated the 24-page masterpiece aimed at children aged two and older.
Williams humorously describes the book as a 'serious meditation upon censorship, gaslighting, and the power of words.' It's a project inspired by his own family's daily enjoyment of the subject, and the surprising contention it sparked during conversations.
The book humorously addresses the aversion some adults have to the word 'fart', sharing a personal anecdote about his sister-in-law's preference for the term 'pops'. Williams believes the book is suitable for all ages as he continues to find humor in the topic.
'Is there a word which describes a fart better than ‘fart’? No, there is not,' he asserts, defending the use of the word against those he describes as 'silly, farty adults'.
The launch event took place at Fitzrovia's Green Man pub, a venue significant to his early stand-up career. Notable attendees included comedians like Nick Helm and Rosie Holt, as well as podcasters from 'Drunk Women Solving Crime'.
The book is available for purchase on Amazon, priced at £8.49.
